Tea Eater Tarot DecK
Unlike traditional tarot Tea Eater Tarot transforms the suits into band-specific symbols:
Waffles = Pentacles / Earth
Butter = Wands / Fire
Bugs = Swords / Air
Tea = Cups / Water
The court cards are also reimagined to reflect band roles: Skins (drums), Synth, Singer, and Strings (guitar/bass). The major arcana cards are based on songs from Tea Eater’s first two albums and unreleased third record. The cards blend the band’s personal mythology with stories from their songs and music videos, occult symbolism, astrology, and humor. Expect cards like Death as a lemon in John Lennon glasses, The Devil as Garfield the cat, and The Tower as a smashed Bustelo can with Mario Kart piranha plants.
Thiessen explains: “I believe music is magic! A lot of songwriters would agree that writing music feels like channeling something bigger than yourself. Whether you like it or not, music is coded with frequencies and mantras that create emotional states which can subconsciously affect behavior (aka SPELLS). With this deck, I want to capture that energy while also keeping it fun and not letting it take itself too seriously. It’s a tool for reality co-creation, shadow work, or just laughing with friends over a bottle of wine.”
The Tea Eater Tarot Deck is both a companion piece to their sophomore album I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck and a standalone piece of tangible art that you can use to interact with the band’s music and magic beyond the stage.

The tarot deck expands on the world of our sophomore album I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck, which dives into themes of transformation, magic, shadow work, and the strange humor in the mundane cycles of everyday life. Each card was designed and hand drawn by Tarra Thiessen, who has been reading tarot since middle school sleepovers.
